The Maryland Terrapins will travel to Ohio Stadium to take on the 7th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.

The Maryland Terrapins dropped to 4-1 on the season after being defeated by the 5th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes, 51-14, this past Friday. Maryland struggled with turnovers against the tough Iowa defense and could not fight back after going into halftime trailing by a 34-7 margin. Maryland was outgained by Iowa by a 428-271 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 7-0 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Terrapins was Dontay Demus Jr. who had 4 receptions for 61 yards.

On the season, Maryland is averaging 32.6 ppg on 469.6 total yards per game (317.4 passing yds/g; 152.2 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Maryland has been led by QB Taulia Tagovailoa who has completed 72.2% of his passes for 1497 yards, 12 TD, & 6 INT. The top receiving threats for Tagovailoa have been Dontay Demus Jr. (28 rec, 507 yards, 3 TD), Rakim Jarrett (21 rec, 276 yards, 4 TD), & Jeshaun Jones (17 rec, 218 yards). Maryland will be without their top WR Dontay Demus Jr. who is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury suffered against Iowa. Leading the way for the Maryland backfield has been Rayon Fleet-Davis who has 331 rushing yards & 4 TD’s on 47 carries to go along with 16 receptions for 114 yards & 1 TD.

Defensively, Maryland is holding their opponents to an average of 21.6 ppg on 345.0 total yards per game (226.6 passing yds/g; 118.4 rushing yds/g).

The 7th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes won their 3rd straight game and improved to 4-1 on the season after defeating the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 52-13, this past Saturday. Ohio State dominated Rutgers on both ends of the field throughout the game and had no trouble securing the victory after going into halftime with a 45-6 lead. Ohio State outgained Rutgers by a 541-346 margin while also winning the turnover battle by a 3-0 margin. Leading the way for the Buckeyes was QB C.J. Stroud who completed 17 of 23 passes for 330 yards & 5 TD’s.

On the season, Ohio State is averaging 45.0 ppg on 555.6 total yards per game (336.2 passing yds/g; 219.4 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Ohio State has been led by RB trio of TreVeyon Henderson (54 att, 510 yards, 7 TD; 3 rec, 87 yards, TD), Miyan Williams (32 att, 249 yards, TD), & Master Teague III (39 att, 214 yards, 2 TD). QB C.J. Stroud has completed 64.5% of his passes for 1293 yards, 13 TD, & 3 INT. The top receiving threats for the Buckeyes have been Garrett Wilson (26 rec, 462 yards, 4 TD), Chris Olave (23 rec, 374 yards, 5 TD), & Jaxon Smith-Njigba (18 rec, 349 yards, 3 TD).

Defensively, Ohio State is holding their opponents to an average of 21.2 ppg on 397.8 total yards per game (251.4 passing yds/g; 146.4 rushing yds/g).

The Terrapins are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games as an underdog and just 7-20 ATS in their last 27 road games. The Buckeyes are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games in October and 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 conference games.

Maryland failed their first real test of the season against Iowa last week and it’s hard to imagine that they are going to have any success on the road against Ohio State, especially after losing their biggest offensive weapon in Dontay Demus Jr. Ohio State looks much improved on the defensive end that what we saw earlier in the season and between the fact that the Buckeyes should be able to force some turnovers and that their offensive will be able to put up plenty of points, I think Ohio State wins this one easily and covers this large spread. Good Luck!
