The Buffalo Bulls and Kent State Golden Flashes face off on Saturday in a MAC college football showdown at Dix Stadium. When these two teams faced off in November of 2020, Buffalo won 71-40.
Buffalo had high expectations heading into the season but they have had some struggles this year sitting with a 2-3 record. In the last game against Western Michigan, the offense really struggled scoring only 17 points and that was enough in the defeat. Buffalo’s offense has taken a step back this season averaging 29.8 points while their defense is giving up 24.2 points per game. Under center for Buffalo is Kyle Vantrease and he has thrown for 943 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. On the ground, Buffalo has used a balanced attack with three different players rushing for at least 250 yards.
On the other side of this matchup is the Kent State Golden Flashes who sit with a 2-3 record but the three losses have come against Iowa, Texas A&M, and Maryland. In the last game, against Bowling Green, the Golden Flashes won 27-20. They are currently averaging 24 points while the defense is giving up 27.6 points. Dustin Crum is the starting quarterback and he has thrown for 896 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Marquez Cooper has been the best running back rushing for 367 yards and three touchdowns. The offense is better than the numbers say, and they should find plenty of success against the MAC.
Buffalo is 7-0-1 against the spread in their last eight games in October. Kent State is 1-5 against the spread in their last six games overall. The under is 4-0 in Buffalo’s last four games as an underdog. The under is 5-2 in Kent State’s last seven games as a favorite. The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings. Buffalo is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games against Kent State.
Kent State is probably the better team, but they aren’t good enough to be laying this type of number against Buffalo. I love the Buffalo running game, and they are going to find success against Kent State. Back Buffalo to cover the spread.
