The 13th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks will travel to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium to take on the 17th ranked Ole Miss Rebels this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.
The 13th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks has their 4-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 4-1 on the season after being defeated by the 2nd-ranked Georgia Bulldogs, 37-0, this past Saturday. Arkansas could get nothing going on the offensive end against Georgia and could not fight back after falling behind by a 21-0 margin late in the 1st quarter. Arkansas was outgained by Georgia by a 345-162 margin and didn’t force a turnover in the loss. Leading the way for the Razorbacks was KJ Jefferson who completed 8 for 13 passes for 65 yards.
On the season, Arkansas is averaging 28.6 ppg on 416.4 total yards per game (192.6 passing yds/g; 223.8 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Arkansas has been led by QB KJ Jefferson who has completed 59.3% of his passes for 909 yards, 6 TD, & 2 INT. Jefferson is also the 2nd leading rusher for the Razorbacks as he has rushed for 235 yards & 2 TD’s on 40 carries. In the Arkansas backfield with Jefferson has been the trio of Trelon Smith (62 att, 302 yards, 3 TD), Raheim Sanders (37 att, 185 yards, 1 TD), & Dominique Johnson (23 att, 157 yards, 3 TD). The top receiving threats for the Razorbacks have been Treylon Burks (22 rec, 383 yards, 2 TD), Tyson Morris (8 rec, 178 yards, 2 TD), & Warren Thompson (7 rec, 103 yards, TD).
Defensively, Arkansas is allowing their opponents to average 19.0 ppg on 282.8 total yards per game (129.8 passing yds/g; 153.0 rushing yds/g).
The 17th ranked Ole Miss Rebels dropped to 3-1 on the season after being defeated by the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, 42-21, this past Saturday. Ole Miss struggled offensively against the Alabama defense in the 1st half and could not fight back after going into halftime by a 28-0 margin. Ole Miss was outgained by Alabama by a 451-291 margin and committed 1 turnover in the loss. Leading the way for the Rebels was QB Matt Corral who completed 21 of 29 passes for 213 yards & 1 TD while also rushing for 1 TD.
On the season, Ole Miss is averaging 44.8 ppg on 549.3 total yards per game (305.8 passing yds/g; 243.5 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Ole Miss has been led by QB Matt Corral who has completed 69.6% of his passes for 1219 yards, 10 TD, & 0 INT while also rushing for 161 yards & 6 TD’s. The top receiving threats for the Rebels have been Dontario Drummond (24 rec, 382 yards, 4 TD), Jonathan Mingo (15 rec, 290 yards, 3 TD), & Braylon Sanders (10 rec, 165 yards, 2 TD). Leading the way for the Rebels backfield has been Henry Parrish Jr. (36 att, 223 yards, TD), Jerrion Ealy (40 att, 204 yards, TD), & Snoop Conner (26 att, 137 yards, 4 TD).
Defensively, Ole Miss is allowing their opponents to average 26.0 ppg on 368.3 total yards per game (216.8 passing yds/g; 151.5 rushing yds/g).
The Razorbacks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall, however, are just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss. The Rebels are 6-1-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
Both Arkansas and Ole Miss look to rebound after tough losses to arguably the top two teams in the country in Georgia & Alabama, however, I think Ole Miss is the team to back in this one. Arkansas has had a great start to their season, however, their whole offense is heavily relied upon KJ Jefferson who just hasn’t looked the same since injuring this leg late in their Texas A&M victory. Ole Miss struggled a bit against the Alabama defense, however, I think they will be able to find more success at home against the Razorbacks and as I think Arkansas is going to struggle offensively in this one, I’m taking Ole Miss to cover this mid-range spread. Good Luck!
