The 15th ranked Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will travel to Centennial Bank Stadium to take on the Arkansas State Red Wolves this Tuesday night in College Football action.
The 15th ranked Coastal Carolina Chanticleers improved to 5-0 on the season after defeating the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks, 59-6, this past Saturday. Coastal Carolina dominated Louisiana-Monroe from the start in this one and had no trouble securing the victory after going into halftime with a 38-3 lead. Coastal Carolina outgained Louisiana-Monroe by a 557-203 margin and forced 1 turnover in the victory. Leading the way for the Chanticleers was QB Grayson McCall who completed 13 of 13 passes for 212 yards & 2 TD.
On the season, Coastal Carolina is averaging 48.2 ppg on 528.0 total yards per game (270.6 passing yds/g; 257.4 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Coastal Carolina has been led by Grayson McCall who has completed 80.2% of his passes for 1113 yards, 10 TD, & 1 INT while also adding 2 rushing TD’s. The top receivers for McCall and the Chanticleers have been Jaivon Heiligh (24 rec, 499 yards, 4 TD), Isaiah Likely (19 rec, 281 yards, 4 TD), Kameron Brown (12 rec, 191 yards, TD), & Braydon Bennett (10 rec, 116 yards). Leading the way for the Costal Carolina backfield has been Reese White (53 att, 374 yards, 6 TD), Shermari Jones (35 att, 288 yards, 3 TD), & Braydon Bennett (31 att, 274 yards, 4 TD). Shermari Jones has missed the last two games due to a turf toe injury and is questionable for this matchup.
Defensively, Coastal Carolina is holding their opponents to an average of 14.0 ppg on 282.6 total yards per game (130.8 passing yds/g; 151.8 rushing yds/g).
The Arkansas State Red Wolves lost their 4th straight game and dropped to 1-4 on the season after being defeated by the Georgia Southern Eagles, 59-33, this past Saturday. Arkansas State had no answers to the Georgia Southern rushing attack and could not fight back after a 6-yard TD run by the Panthers Justin Tomlin gave Georgia Southern a 38-19 lead early in the 3rd quarters. Arkansas State was outgained by Georgia Southern by a 540-534 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 4-0 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Red Wolves was WR Corey Rucker who had 7 receptions for 86 yards & 2 TD’s.
On the season, Arkansas State is averaging 32.0 ppg on 470.8 total yards per game (377.0 passing yds/g; 93.8 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Arkansas State has been led by QB James Blackman who has completed 59.3% of his passes for 1264 yards, 8 TD, & 4 INT. The top receiving threats for the Red Wolves have been Corey Rucker (28 rec, 458 yards, 6 TD), Jeff Foreman (22 rec, 355 yards, 2 TD), Te’Vailance Hunt (23 rec, 290 yards, 2 TD), & Dahu Green (8 rec, 139 yards, 2 TD). Leading the way for the Red Wolves rushing attack has been the trio of Johnnie Lang (32 att, 125 yards), Lincoln Pare (24 att, 124 yards), & Alan Lamar (36 att, 108 yards, TD).
Defensively, Arkansas State is allowing their opponents to average 45.6 ppg on 563.8 total yards per game (300.6 passing yds/g; 263.2 rushing yds/g).
The Chanticleers are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games in October and 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 conference games. The Red Wolves are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 home games, however, are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.
Costal Carolina has taken advantage of a weaker schedule to start this season and outside of their game at Buffalo, has steamrolled opponents behind an explosive offense and very stout defense. Arkansas State has been able to put up some points, however, the defense has really struggled so far as they come into this game ranked just 129th in scoring defense & 130th in total defense. I think Arkansas State will be able to get a few points on the scoreboard in front of their home crowd, however, as I just don’t see how the Red Wolves are going to slow down a Costal Carolina that has outscored opponents by a 112-9 margin over the past two weeks, I think Coastal Carolina puts up another 50+ points in this one and does enough to cover this large spread. Good Luck!
