The Florida Gators and Kentucky Wildcats face off on Saturday in a Week 4 SEC college football showdown at Kroger Field. When these two teams faced off in November of 2020, Florida won 34-10.
The Florida Gators have looked impressive so far this season winning three of their first game and the only loss was by two points against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Each of the three wins have been by at least 21 points, including the last game against Tennessee 38-14. Under center for Florida is Emory Jones and on the season he has thrown for 688 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions. Jones is also having a big year on the ground putting up 376 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, Florida is giving up 19.7 points per game, and they need the defense to lock down in this one.
On the other side of this matchup is the Kentucky Wildcats who have a 4-0 record but they have been involved in a lot of close contests. In the last game against South Carolina, the offense had issues getting going scoring only 16 points, but the defense was strong giving up only ten points. Kentucky on the season is averaging 31 points while their defense is giving up 17.7 points. Under center for Kentucky is Will Levis who has thrown for 902 yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions. Chris Rodriguez Jr. has been the top player for Kentucky putting up 520 yards and three touchdowns. The fumbling has been an issue for Rodriguez and he can’t be giving the ball over in this game.
Florida is 1-5-1 against the spread in their last seven games as a favorite. Kentucky is 7-2 against the spread in their last nine games in October. The home team is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings between Florida and Kentucky. The underdog is 3-0-1 against the spread in the last four meetings played between Florida and Kentucky.
Kentucky has made the games ugly so far this season, and that will be the case again in this game. Florida has struggled to cover spreads as favorites, and Kentucky’s defense is going to keep them in this game. Emory Jones has a turnover issue , and that will lead to Kentucky keeping this game close. Back Kentucky against the spread.
