The Northern Illinois Huskies and Eastern Michigan Eagles square off Saturday in a MAC week 5 college football action at Huskie Stadium. The Eastern Michigan Eagles look for another win to build on their 3-1 record. The Northern Illinois Huskies need a win here to get a game above a .500 record.
The Northern Illinois Huskies have lost five of their last seven home games. Rocky Lombardi is completing 59.6 percent of his passes for 697 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions. Cole Tucker and Tyrice Richie have combined for 387 receiving yards and one touchdown while Trayvon Rudolph has eight receptions. The Northern Illinois Huskies ground game is averaging 215.8 yards per contest, and Harrison Waylee leads the way with 487 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Northern Illinois is allowing 37 points and 430 yards per game. Lance Deveaux Jr. leads the Northern Illinois Huskies with 32 tackles, Devonte O’Malley has 1.5 sacks and Jordan Gandy has six pass deflections.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles have lost three of their last five road games. Ben Bryant is completing 64.8 percent of his passes for 675 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions. Dylan Drummond and Hassan Beydoun have combined for 394 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Zach Westmoreland has seven receptions. The Eastern Michigan Eagles ground game is averaging 165.8 yards per contest, and Jawon Hamilton leads the way with 239 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Eastern Michigan is allowing 24.5 points and 407 yards per game. Terry Myrick leads the Eastern Michigan Eagles with 19 tackles, Turan Rush has 2.5 sacks and David Carter Jr. has two interceptions.
The Eagles are 23-8 ATS in their last 31 road games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Huskies are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS win. The over is 14-6-2 in Eagles last 22 games overall. The over is 9-4 in Huskies last 13 games overall. The Eagles are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 meetings in Northern Illinois.
This is a tough game to cap and I'm not high on either of these teams if we're being honest. However, the Northern Illinois Huskies are one of the worst defensive teams in the country, which includes being ranked 105th in total defense, 125th against the rush and 122nd in points allowed. The Eastern Michigan Eagles are coming off two great offensive performances and they've been road covering machines the last three or four seasons. In a toss up game, I'll lean Eastern Michigan, but this contest is isn't one I'm looking to bet on Saturday's card.
