The Boston College Eagles will travel to Memorial Stadium (Clemson) to take on the 25th ranked Clemson Tigers this Saturday night in College Football action.
The Boston College Eagles improved to 4-0 on the season after defeating the Missouri Tigers, 41-34, this past Saturday. Missouri was able to force OT after hitting a game-tying 56-yard FG as time expired, however, Boston College was able to secure the victory in OT after Brandon Sebastian game-winning INT after Boston College opened up the OT with a touchdown. Boston College outgained Missouri by a 450-391 margin and won the turnover battle by a 2-1 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Eagles was Pat Garwo III who had 175 rushing yards & 2 TD’s on 25 carries.
On the season, Boston College is averaging 41.3 ppg on 422.0 total yards per game (200.5 passing yds/g; 221.5 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Boston College has been led by the RB trio of Pat Garwo III (61 att, 412 yards, 4 TD), Alec Sinkfield (33 att, 133 yards, TD), & Travis Levy (26 att, 117 yards, 4 TD). QB Dennis Grosel has completed 64.1% of his passes for 477 yards, 4 TD, & 2 INT. The top receiving threats for the Eagles have been Zay Flowers (18 rec, 275 yards, 2 TD), Trae Berry (7 rec, 159 yards, 2 TD), CJ Lewis (8 rec, 153 yards), & Jaden Williams (9 rec, 77 yards, 3 TD).
Defensively, Boston College is holding their opponents to an average of 16.3 ppg on 290.0 total yards per game (190.5 passing yds/g; 99.5 rushing yds/g).
The 25th ranked Clemson Tigers had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 2-2 on the season after being defeated by the NC State Wolfpack, 27-21 in 2OT, this past Saturday. Clemson was able to force OT after a Will Shipley 5-yard TD run early int eh 4th quarter tied the game, however, the Tigers could answer the Wolfpacks TD in the 2 OT after D.J. Uiagalelei’s 4th down pass to Justyn Ross came up short. Clemson was outgained by NC State by a 386-214 margin and committed 1 turnover in the loss. Leading the way for the Tigers was WR Justyn Ross who had 8 receptions for 77 yards & 2 TD’s.
On the season, Clemson is averaging 21.8 ppg on 295.5 total yards per game (169.3 passing yds/g; 126.3 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Clemson has been led by RB Will Shipley who had 211 rushing yards & 5 TD’s on 44 carries. DJ Uiagalelei has completed 56.3% of his passes for 586 yards, 3 TD, & 3 INT. The top receiving threats for the Tigers have been Joseph Ngata (13 rec, 222 yards), Justyn Ross (22 rec, 216 yards, 3 TD), & Davis Allen (6 rec, 45 yards).
Defensively, Clemson is holding their opponents to an average of 12.0 ppg on 293.8 total yards per game (177.0 passing yds/g; 116.8 rushing yds/g).
The Eagles are 23-8 ATS in their last 31 October games and 23-9-1 ATS in their last 33 conference games. The Tigers are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games in October and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
Clemson has one of the best defenses in the country, however, the Tigers are in for a long season unless they find some answers on the offensive end as the Tigers come into this game ranked just 105th in scoring offense & 121st in total offense. Boston College is averaging 41.3 ppg behind one of the better rushing attacks in the College Football and as I think the Eagles defense, which ranks 20th in total defense, will continue to give Clemson’s offense trouble, I think the play here is to take the Eagles and the points. Good Luck!
