Iowa struggled on the offensive end in the 1st half against the Rams and trailed by a 14-7 margin at halftime, however, Iowa dominated the 2nd half on both ends of the field and was able to take the lead for good on a 27-yard TD reception by Sam LaPorta with 6:01 left in the 3rd quarter. Iowa outgained Colorado State by a 278-250 margin and committed 1 turnover in the victory. The Maryland Terrapins improved to 4-0 on the season after defeating the Kent State Golden Flashes, 37-16, this past Saturday. Maryland had no trouble getting their offense going against the Kent State defense and pulled away in the 3rd quarter after a 29-yard TD run by Tayon Fleet-Davis gave the Terrapins a 30-9 lead with 10:14 left in regulation. Maryland outgained Kent State by a 526-458 margin and committed 2 turnovers in the victory. Leading the way for the Terrapins was Taulia Tagovailoa who completed 31 of 41 passes for 384 yards, 3 TD, & 1 INT.

On the season, Maryland is averaging 37.3 ppg on 519.3 total yards per game (353.3 passing yds/g; 212.5 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Maryland has been led by Taulia Tagovailoa who has completed 75.5% of his passes for 1340 yards, 10 TD, & 1 INT. The top receiving threats for the Terrapins have been Dontay Demus Jr. (24 rec, 446 yards, 3 TD), Rakim Jarrett (17 rec, 265 yards, 3 TD), Jeshaun Jones (15 rec, 201 yards), & Darryl Jones (12 rec, 110 yards). Defensively, Maryland is holding their opponents to an average of 14.3 ppg on 324.3 total yards per game (212.5 passing yds/g; 111.8 rushing yds/g).

The Hawkeyes are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The terrapins are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games, however, are just 9-27 ATS in their last 36 games following a straight up win.

Iowa will need to make sure that they bring their “A” game in what will be a tough road matchup against a Maryland team that has played well this season. Maryland has been doing a great job piling up offensive yards, however, this is going to be the toughest defense that they will have to face this season as Iowa comes into this game ranked 3rd in scoring defense, 17th in rushing defense, & 36th in passing defense. Iowa is not explosive on the offensive end, however, they are a capable offense that should be able to find some success in the passing game in this one, and as I think the Hawkeyes defense does a good job keeping Maryland out of the end zone, I think the Hawkeyes do enough in this one to cover this small road spread. Good Luck!
