The Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Michigan Wolverines face off in a Week 4 college football showdown at Michigan Stadium. In November of 2020 Michigan beat Rutgers 48-42 in overtime.
Rutgers has gotten out to a fast start to this season winning each of their first three games, including a 17-7 victory over Syracuse. In the last game, Rutgers scored 28 points in the second quarter, which pushed them to a 45-13 victory. Rutgers is averaging 41 points while their defense is giving up 11.3 points. Under center for Rutgers is Noah Vedral and he has thrown for 606 yards and four touchdowns. Isiah Pacheco has been the best running back sitting with 152 yards and three touchdowns. Out wide the star is Bo Melton and he is averaging 227 yards and two touchdowns. ‘
On the other side of this matchup is Michigan who have also gotten out to a fast start. Michigan has two wins over MAC teams and a 31-10 victory over the Washington Huskies. Michigan is averaging 47 points per game while their defense is giving up 11.33 points per game. Cade McNamara is under center for Michigan and he has thrown for 371 yards and three touchdowns. Blake Corum is the best running back on the team putting up 407 yards and seven touchdowns on 48 attempts. In this game for Michigan, they need the defense to be good, or this game is going to be a big issue.
Rutgers is 6-0 against the spread in their last six road games. Michigan is 0-5 against the spread in their last five conference games. The under is 4-1 in Rutgers last five home games. The under is 4-1 in Wolverines last five home games. The over is 7-0 in the last seven meetings.
This Rutgers team is good, and the biggest reason has been the play of quarterback Noah Vedral. Look for Rutgers to get a big game from Vedral and that will be the difference in this game. I don't think Rutgers will win this game, but they will cover the spread.
