The Oregon State Beavers and USC Trojans face off on Saturday in a Week 4 college football showdown at L.A, Memorial Coliseum. These two teams last faced in November and USC won 38-21.
The Oregon State Beavers lost their first game of the season against Purdue, but they have won back to back games against Hawaii and Idaho. In the last game, Oregon State’s offense was strong, scoring 42 points. Quarterback Chance Nolan had a big game completing 14 of his 19 passes for 175 yards and three touchdowns. Nolan on the season has completed 70.3 percent of his passes for 634 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions. In the game against Purdue, Oregon State didn’t play terribly, but the offense could only manage 21 points, which led to the loss.
On the other side of this matchup is the USC Trojans who have made some big changes so far this season, and they sit with a 2-1 record. The one loss came against Stanford, and the defense struggled giving up 42 points. In the last game against Washington State, the defense gave up only 14 points while the offense scored 45. Jaxon Dart seems to be the starting quarter for USC and in the last he threw for 391 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions. Dart was also the leading rusher with six carries for 32 yards. In this game, USC needs the defense to be good, and to slow down the Beavers offense early.
Oregon State is 9-1 against the spread in their last ten games. USC is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games overall. The over is 5-2 in Oregon State’s last seven games overall. The underdog is 5-2 against the spread in the last seven meetings. The under is 5-0 in the last five meetings.
USC looked impressive in the last game against Washington State, and I don’t think Oregon State is much better than Washington State. Dart is going to have another big game against the Oregon State defense, and this game is going to get out of hand early. Back USC to cover the spread.
