Notre Dame at Wisconsin: 9/25/21 College Football Picks and Predictions

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Wisconsin Badgers face off on Saturday in a Week 4 college football showdown at Soldier Field. The last time these two teams faced off was in September of 1964, a game Notre Dame won 31-7. 

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have won their first three games of the season, but the first two games were a lot closer than they hoped for.They almost blew their first game against Florida State, and against Toledo, the offense made too many mistakes that kept the Rockets in it. In the last game against Purdue, the defense locked down giving up only 13 points. Quarterback Jack Coan had a big game completing 15 of his 31 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns. Coan was the starting quarterback for the Badgers and transferred to Notre Dame before this season. Kyren Williams also had a big game with 12 carries for 91 yards and a touchdown. Notre Dame is averaging 33.3 points per game while their defense is giving up 26.67 points per game. 

The Wisconsin Badgers have played two games this year and sit with a 1-1 record. Wisconsin lost their first game 16-10 against Penn State, before winning their last game against Eastern Michigan 34-7. Even though the Wisconsin Badgers won the last game, Graham Mertz still only threw for 141 yards and it’s clear that the offense is going to be an issue for this team. The star of this team on offense is Chez Mellusi and he had 20 carries for 144 yards and a touchdown in the last game. Issac Guerndo also had four carries for 92 yards and a touchdown. In this game if Wisconsin wants to get the job done, it’s going to be about the offense and how well Mertz can move the ball.
