The 14th ranked Iowa State Cyclones will travel to McLane Stadium to take on the Baylor Bears this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.

The 14th ranked Iowa State Cyclones improved to 2-1 on the season after defeating the UNLV Rebels, 48-3, this past Saturday. Iowa State dominated an overmatched UNLV team on both ends of the field and had no trouble securing the victory after going into halftime with a 24-0 lead. Iowa State outgained UNLV by a 493-130 margin and forced one Rebels turnover in the victory. Leading the way for the Cyclones was WR Xavier Hutchinson who had 10 receptions for 133 yards & 2 TD’s.

On the season, Iowa State is averaging 27.0 ppg on 389.0 total yards per game (253.3 passing yds/g; 135.7 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Iowa State has been led by RB Breece Hall who had 238 rushing yards & 4 TD’s on 60 carries while also hauling in 9 receptions for 55 yards. QB Brock Purdy has completed 71.4% of his passes for 625 yards, 3 TD & 3 INT. The top receiving threats for the Cyclones have been Xavier Hutchinson (20 rec, 243 yards, 2 TD), Charlie Kolar (8 rec, 103 yards, TD), Darren Wilson Jr. (4 rec, 66 yards), Joe Scates (5 rec, 63 yards), & Tarique Milton (6 rec, 58 yards, TD).

Defensively, Iowa State is holding their opponents to an average of 13.3 ppg on 192.7 total yards per game (143.3 passing yds/g; 49.3 rushing yds/g).

The Baylor Bears improved to 3-0 on the season after defeating the Kansas Jayhawks, 45-7, this past Saturday. Baylor led by just a 14-7 margin at halftime, however, the Bears dominated the Jayhawks in the 2nd half and had no trouble pulling away for the victory after a 4-yard TD run by Abram Smith gave Baylor a 28-7 lead with 9:06 left in the 3rd quarter. Baylor outgained Kansas by a 576-166 margin and forced one Kansas turnover in the victory. Leading the way for the Bears was QB Gerry Bohanon who completed 19 of 23 passes for 269 yards & 2 TD’s while also adding a rushing TD.

On the season, Baylor is averaging 46.7 ppg on 561.0 total yards per game (237.3 passing yds/g; 323.7 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Baylor has been led by QB Gerry Bohanon who has completed 72.9% of his passes for 664 yards & 5 TD’s while also adding 69 yards & 3 TD’s on the ground. The top receiving threats for the Bears have been R.J. Sneed (14 rec, 260 yards, 1 TD), Tyquan Thornton (13 rec, 180 yards, 2 TD), & Josh Fleeks (6 rec, 75 yards). Leading the way for the Baylor backfield has been the duo of Abram Smith (47 att, 366 yards, 5 TD) & Trestan Ebner (42 att, 317 yards; 5 rec, 64 yards, TD).

Defensively, Baylor is holding their opponents to an average of 11.3 ppg on 227.3 total yards per game (111.0 passing yds/g; 116.3 rushing yds/g).

The Cyclones are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games as a road favorite. The Bears are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a straight up win, however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win.

Baylor has looked impressive over the past few weeks on both ends of the field, however, this is not as good as a team as the stats show and is still the same team that struggled a bit in a 29-20 win against Texas State. Iowa State seemed to find their offensive footing against UNLV after a few tough games against UNI & Iowa and as I think the Cyclones defense is going to give Baylor issues in this one, I think the Cyclones win this one by double-digits and cover this spread. Good Luck!
