The Bowling Green Falcons and Minnesota Golden Gophers face off on Saturday in a Week 4 college football showdown at TCF Bank Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2008, Minnesota won 42-17.

The Bowling Green Falcons have had some struggles to start the season, and they sit with a 1-2 record. After losing their first two games, the Falcons bounced back against Murray State winning 27-10. Bowling Green is averaging only five points per game in the 1st quarter, and if they want to win this game, Bowling Green, needs to get out to a faster start. Under center for Bowling Green is Matt McDonald who has thrown for 716 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Bowling Green doesn’t really have a running game, and no team has put up more than 74 yards.

On the other side of this matchup is the Minnesota Golden Gophers who opened up their season with a loss against Ohio State, but since that point they have won two games in a row. Star running back Mo Ibrahim has been lost for the season, but Trey Pott has stepped up, and in the last game he rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns. Mar’Keise Irving also added 15 carries for 89 yards. Under center for Minnesota is Tanner Morgan and he has thrown for 481 yards, three touchdowns, and eight interceptions. 

Bowling Green is 6-13 against the spread in their last 19 games overall. MInnesota is 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games overall.The under is 4-0 in Bowling Green’s last four games overall. The over is 7-1 in Minnesota’s last eight home games. The over is 11-5 in Minnesota’s last 16 home games overall. 

I expect Minnesota’s defense is going to be strong again in this game, and Bowling Green is going to have some real issues getting any offense going. Minnesota will run up the score with their running game, and Bowling Green is going to have no answer. Back Minnesota to cover the spread.
