The Tulane Green Wave and Ole Miss Rebels face off on Saturday in a Week 3 college football showdown at Vaught Hemingway Stadium. The last time these two teams faced off was in September of 2012 and it was Ole Miss that won 39-0. There has been some trash talk heading into this game from both teams.
The Ole Miss Rebels have high expectations for this year, and they have gotten out to a fast start. They started out the season with a 43-24 victory over Louisville and followed that up with a 54-17 victory over Austin Peay. Matt Corral is one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC and in the last game he threw for 281 yards and five touchdowns. Ole Miss tries to play as fast as possible, and they won’t slow down the pace in this game. Last season the Ole Miss defense was a big issue, but this looks to be a different team on that side of the ball.
On the other side of this matchup is the Tulane Green Wave who have a 1-1 record, but they still feel like this is a game they could win. Tulane opened up the season against Oklahoma, and it came down to the final possession before they lost 40-35. In the last game, Tulane’s offense was the difference, beating Morgan State 69-20. Under center for Tulane is Michael Pratt and against Oklahoma, he threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Tyrick James was the top player in the first game having six attempts for 93 yards.
Tulane is 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games overall. Ole Miss is 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games as a home favorite. The over is 6-0-1 in Tulane’s last seven games in September. The over is 5-1 in Ole Miss’s last six games played in September.
These two teams have been involved in high-scoring games in September the last few years, and it’s going to be no different in this game. Ole Miss is going to run up the score, and Tulane will also score plenty of points themselves. Look for this shootout to go well over the total.
