The 12th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish improved to 2-0 on the season after defeating the Toledo Rockets, 32-29, this past Saturday. Notre Dame allowed Toledo to score 14 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to take a late 29-24 lead, however, the Fighting Irish were able to avoid the upset after an 18-yard TD reception by Michael Mayer gave Notre Dame the lead for good with just 1:09 left in the 4th quarter. The Boilermakers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning record and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 September games. The Fighting Irish are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a winning record, however, are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games.
Notre Dame is the better team on paper, however, I haven’t been overly impressed by this Fighting Irish team as they were lucky to get by Toledo and their OT win against Florida State certainly doesn’t look that impressive after the Seminoles lost to the FCS Jacksonville State Gamecocks this past weekend. Purdue’s defense will have some trouble with the Notre Dame offense, especially if Kyren Williams starts playing up to the level he can, however, between the fact that Notre Dame is allowing over 33 ppg and that I think Jack Plummer and the Boilermakers offense should be able to put up plenty of points in this one, I think the play here is to take Purdue and the points. Good Luck!
