The New Mexico Lobos and Texas A&M Aggies face off on Saturday in a Week 3 college football showdown at Kyle Field. The last time these two teams faced off was in 2017 and Texas A&M came away with the 55-14 victory.
The New Mexico Lobos currently sit with a 2-0 record overall but this is a big step up in competition. In the last game against New Mexico State, New Mexico’s offense scored 34 points and that led to the nine-point victory. New Mexico is averaging 30.50 points per game while their defense is giving up 21 points per game. The Lobos offense is also averaging 441.5 yards per game which is 45th in the country. Under center is Terry Wilson Jr, and in the last game, he completed 26 of his 37 passes for 381 yards and three touchdowns. Bobby Cole also had 20 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of this matchup is the Texas A&M Aggies who opened up their season with an impressive 41-10 victory over Kent State. In the last game, the Aggies weren’t as dominant, but they were able to pull off a 10-7 victory over Colorado. It was a touchdown in the 4th quarter that was the difference as they pulled off the victory. Under center for the Aggies is Zach Calzada and he completed 18 of his 38 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown. The Aggies are averaging 6.19 yards per game which is 46th in football.
New Mexico is 12-26 against the spread in their last 38 games overall. Texas A&M is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall. The over is 9-2 in New Mexico’s last 11 non-conference games. The under is 5-2 in Texas A&M’s last seven games overall.
Texas A&M beats off on bad teams, and even though New Mexico is 2-0 this isn’t a good team. Texas A&M is going to run up the score again in this game, but I also expect their defense is going to lock down as they did against Colorado. Back Texas A&M to win this game and cover the spread.
