The Nevada Wolfpack and Kansas State Wildcats face off on Saturday in a Week 3 college football showdown at the Bill Snyder Family Stadium. This is the first meeting ever between the two teams.
The Nevada Wolfpack have looked quite impressive so far this season winning each of their first two games. Nevada opened up their season with a 22-17 victory over California, and they followed that up with a 49-10 victory over Idaho State. Under center for Nevada is Carson Strong, and in the last game he threw for 381 yards and four touchdowns. Running back Toa Taua also had a big game rushing nine times for 103 yards. On defense, Nevada is giving up only 13.5 points per game, and in this game if the defense can be good, they should be in good shape.
On the other side of this matchup is the Kansas State Wildcats who have won each of their first two games. In the last game against Southern Illinois, Kansas State had to fight and claw, but the seven points in the 4th quarter was enough to pull off the victory. Quarterback Skyler Thompson was the starting quarterback to start the season, but he suffered a knee injury in the last game and will miss this game. In the last game, Wil Howard completed 8 of his 17 passes for 76 yards and an interception. Howard will be the starting quarterback in this game, and they need him to have a big game. Kansas State is giving up only 15 points per game, and their defense is going to need to be strong again in this game.
Nevada is 5-0 against the spread in their last five non-conference games. Kansas State is 11-4 against the spread in their last 15 games following a straight up win. The under is 25-10 in Nevada’s last 35 road games. The under is 20-7 in Kansas State’s last 27 home games.
Nevada is the better team, and even on the road, they are going to find success. I don’t trust Howard to find success against the Nevada defense. Carson Strong is going to have a big game, and lead Nevada to another victory. Back Nevada to cover the spread.
