The 14th ranked Iowa State Cyclones dropped to 1-1 on the season after being defeated by the 10th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes, 27-17, this past Saturday. Iowa State was strong defensively, however, struggled with turnovers and could not fight back after the Hawkeyes Jack Campbell returned an Iowa State fumble for a TD gave Iowa a 21-10 lead with 5:08 left in the 3rd quarter. Iowa State outgained Iowa by a 339-173 margin, however, lost the turnover battle by a 4-0 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Cyclones was RB Breece Hall who had 69 rushing yards & 1 TD on 16 carries.

The UNLV Rebels dropped to 0-2 on the season after being defeated by the 23rd ranked Arizona State Sun Devils, 37-10, this past Saturday. UNLV held a 10-7 lead midway through the 2nd quarter, however, the Rebels struggled offensively the rest of the way and could not fight back after a 1-yard TD run by the Sun Devils Rachaad White gave Arizona State a 27-10 lead with 13:10 left in the 4th quarter. UNLV was outgained by Arizona State by a 465-155 margin and gained only 11 first downs in the loss. Leading the way for the Rebels was QB Doug Brumfield who completed 6 of 14 passes for 60 yards while also rushing for 43 yards & 1 TD.

The Cyclones are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 17-7 ATS in their last 24 games following a straight up loss. The Rebels are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 September games.

It’s been a struggle offensively for Brock Purdy and Iowa State offense to start the season, but make no mistake, this is still a very talented Iowa State offense which should be able to find their footing against a UNLV defense that currently ranks just 117th in all of College Football in scoring defense. Iowa State has been strong defensively this season as they rank t-7th in total defense and as I just don’t see UNLV having any success on the offensive end in this one, I think Iowa State wins this won by 40 and covers this spread. Good Luck!
