The Central Michigan Chippewas and LSU Tigers face off on Saturday in a Week 2 college football showdown at Tiger Stadium. This is the first meeting ever between the two teams.
The Central Michigan Chippewas come into this game with a 1-1 record overall but even their loss was competitive. In the last game against Missouri, Central Michigan was able to score 24 points, but the defense gave up 34 points. In the last game Central Michigan bounced back in a big way against Robert Morris winning 45-0. Under center for Central Michigan is Jacob Sirmon who completed 12 of his 16 passes for 110 yards and three touchdowns. Running back De’Javion Stepney also had a big game rushing nine times for 81 yards. Lew Nichols also had 17 carries for 79 yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of this matchup is the LSU Tigers who sit with a 1-1 record. LSU opened up their season losing to UCLA before beating McNeese State 34-7. The defense in the first game really struggled giving up 38 points. Under center for LSU is Max Johnson and in the last game he completed 18 of his 27 passes for 161 yards and three touchdowns. Corey Kiner was the best back finishing with 11 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown. The offense should be fine this season but where this team is going to really struggle is with their defense. The defense is going to need to be strong in this game.
Central Michigan is 4-0 against the spread in their last road games. LSU is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games as home favorites. The under is 4-1 in Central Michigan’s last five games. The over is 6-1 in the Tigers last 7 home games.
LSU loves to beat up on bad teams, and that is going to be no different in this game. The LSU Tigers offense is going to be strong early and they could score on most of their possessions. Central Michigan is going to struggle to score in this game, and LSU will come away with a cover of the spread.
