The San Diego State Aztecs and Arizona Wildcats face off on Saturday in a Week 2 college football showdown at Arizona Stadium. The last time these two teams played was back in 2001, a game Arizona won 23-10. 

The San Diego State Aztecs opened up their season against New Mexico State, and although it wasn’t pretty, San Diego State came away with the 28-10 victory. At halftime, San Diego State was down 10-0 but they came out in the second half and played a lot better and that led to the 28-10 victory. Under center for San Diego State is Jordon Brookshire and he completed seven of his 20 passes for 115 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. The Aztecs are a run-first time and Greg Bell looks to be a star out of the backfield after rushing 21 times for 161 yards and a touchdown. 

On the other side of this matchup is the Arizona Wildcats who faced off with the BYU Cougars in the first game of the year and it didn’t go well as they were defeated by eight points. At halftime, Arizona had only scored three points, and they couldn’t recover from that as they finished the game with 16 points. Even though Arizona only had 16 points, they did find success moving the ball. Quarterback Gunner Gruz completed 34 of his 45 passes for 336 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Stanley Berryhill III also had a big game catching 12 passes for 102 yards. 

San Diego State is 7-3 against the spread in their last ten games played on grass. Arizona is 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall. The under is 12-3-1 in San Diego State’s last 16 road games. The under is 6-1 in Arizona’s last seven games on grass. The under is 4-1 in Arizona’s last five home games. 

I don’t think San Diego State is going to get out to a slow start again in this game, and the more talented team is the Aztecs. San Diego State is going to find success on the ground, and the Wildcats will have no answer. Back San Diego State against the spread.
