Alabama faces Miami on Saturday, September 4th, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for a Week 1 college football matchup.
Alabama is back and ready for this Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game to start the year. Alabama, of course, is the defending National Champions after beating Ohio State in the championship game, 52-24. It was a dominant season from the Crimson Tide, as they ran the table in the SEC and the College Football Playoff. Alabama scored 48.5 points per game last season, but only three starters on offense are returning for this season. This is nothing new for Alabama, as players usually come and go within a few seasons to enter their names in the NFL Draft. That includes Alabama's quarterback and two leading receivers, which the team will have almost no issues replacing this season. Alabama enters the season ranked #1 in college football and will face a tough test in Miami here. Alabama's starting quarterback is going to be Bryce Young. Young was the backup to Mac Jones last season and he was a five-star recruit.
Miami had a solid season under head coach Manny Diaz in the ACC in 2020. Miami went 8-2 in the regular season, only losing to two teams that are ranked in the Top 10 this year in Clemson and North Carolina. Miami lost to Oklahoma State in the Cheez-It Bowl, and that was a game that starting quarterback D'Eriq King was injured in and missed the majority of. King is back for Miami, as well as 10 other returning offensive starters. Miami is an experienced team this season across the board, as 9 starters on the defensive side of the ball also return for the Canes. Miami is ranked #14 in the AP Polls heading into the 2021 campaign.
Alabama is a 19.5-point favorite and the total is set at 61. Alabama's offense is going to be deadly yet again this season, and I am not sure Miami is going to be able to handle it. I think Miami's offense will be able to put up a fight, though. I will take the over, as this should be an entertaining game to watch if you love offense.
