The UNLV Runnin Rebels and Hawaii Rainbow Warriors face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Aloha Stadium.
UNLV has really struggled this year and coming into this game they have lost all five of their games. In the last game against Wyoming, the offense could only manage 14 points while their defense gave up 45 points. On the season UNLV is averaging 16.6 points per game while the defense is giving up 38 points per game. At quarterback the Runnin Rebels are led by Max Gilliam who has thrown for 599 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions. In this game if UNLV wants any chance to come away with a victory, the defense is going to need to step up in a big way. The only way UNLV has a chance is if the defense locks down.
On the other side of this matchup is the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors who can move back to .500 with a victory in this game. In the last game against San Jose State, Hawaii’s defense struggled giving up 35 points and that led to a loss. This is a Hawaii offense that has taken a step back this season and they are currently averaging 24.3 points per game. The defense has also had some real issues too giving up 30.4 points per game. At quarterback, Hawaii is led by Chevan Corderio who has thrown for 1,695 yards, 11 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Hawaii is facing a terrible team so it’s going to need to be about the offense running up the score.
The under is 7-3 in UNLV’s last 10 road games. The under is 8-2 in Hawaii’s last ten conference games. Hawaii is 16-36 against the spread in their last 72 games played against team’s with a losing record.
Hawaii is the better team and they very well could cover this over by themselves. I also think UNLV will find enough offensive success to push this total. This game will end close to 65 and that means the over will have cashed. In terms of the side it's a lean with Hawaii to cover.
