The Central Michigan Chippewas and Toledo Rockets face off on Saturday in a college basketball showdown at the Glass Bowl.
The Central Michigan Chippewas got out to a fast start to the season but they have been struggling a bit as of late losing two of their last three games. In the Chippewas, last game against Ball State it was the defense that was a big issue giving up 45 points and that led to a 25 point loss. On the season Central Michigan is averaging 33 points per game while their defense is giving up 31.4 points per game. The big question heading into this game is if Central Michigan will have their starting quarterback in this game. Daniel Richardson has thrown for 769 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions but he is day to day as he deals with a leg injury. If he can’t go it’s going to be Ty Brock who will go and on the season he has thrown for 250 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
On the other side of this matchup is the Toledo Rockets who also come into this game with a 3-2 record. Toledo has won two of his last three games. Toledo is a strong offensive team and coming into this game they are averaging 37.2 points per game while their defense is giving up 24.6 points per game. In the last game it was the offense that was the difference for Toledo putting up 41 points and that led to the victory. The big question for Toledo heading into this game is who will be under center for them. Starting quarterback Eli Peters missed the last game and it’s unclear if he is going to be able to go in this game. If he can’t go it will be Carter Bradley who will get the start and on the season he has thrown for 584 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions.
The over is 13-5 in Central Michigan’s last 18 games on fieldturf. The over is 8-3 in Toledo’s last 11 conference games. Central Michigan is 1-9 against the spread in their last ten games against Toledo. The favorite is 16-4-1 against the spread in the last 21 meetings between Central Michigan and Toledo.
Toledo has been playing better football as of late and it doesn’t matter who starts under center for them, they are going to find success. Look for Toledo to run up the score and that will lead to them winning this game and covering the spread.
