The Northern Illinois Huskies and Western Michigan Broncos face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Waldo Stadium.
Northern Illinois have struggled this season and they come into this game having lost all three of their games. The offense hasn’t been terrible this season, but the biggest issue has been with their defense that is giving up 40 points per game. Northern Illinois is a young team which means there have been mistakes that have really cost them. On offense, Northern Illinois is averaging 21.7 points per game which is 104th in the country. At quarterback, the Huskies are led by Ross Bowers who has thrown for 641 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. In this game if they want to win they are going to need the defense to have a find way to step up.
On the other side of this matchup is the Western Michigan Broncos who have won all three of their games and their offense has been elite scoring at least 41 points in all three of the games. On the season, Western Michigan is averaging 50.3 points per game which is second in all of college football. The defense for Western Michigan isn’t their strength and on the season they are giving up 31.7 points per game. In the last game against Central Michigan, the defense gave up 44 points, but this a game where the defense could have their best outing of the season. If the defense struggles in this game, even if the offense runs up the score, they probably won’t be very happy with their performance.
The over is 7-3 in Northern Illinois last 10 games overall. The over is 15-3 in Western Michigan’s last 18 games played in November. The under is 6-2 in NIU’s last eight home games. Northern Illinois is 17-5-1 against the spread in the last 23 meetings against Western Michigan.
Western Michigan is going to run up the score and this game is going to turn into a track meet. Back the over to cash with ease.
