The Central Michigan Chippewas will travel to Rynearson Stadium to take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles this Friday afternoon in College Football action.
The Central Michigan Chippewas dropped to 2-1 (2-1 MAC) on the season after being defeated by the Western Michigan Broncos, 52-44, this past Wednesday. Central Michigan raced out to a quick 14-0 lead, however, the defense had no answers the rest of the way against the Broncos and could not fight back after falling behind by a 52-30 margin early in the 4th quarter. Central Michigan was outgained by Central Michigan by a 628-406 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Chippewas WR Kalil Pimpleton who had 108 rushing yards & 3 TD’s on 7 carries while also adding 3 receptions for 42 yards.
On the season, Central Michigan is averaging 38.0 ppg on 422.0 total yards per game (208.7 passing yds/g; 213.3 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Central Michigan has been led by the RB duo of Kobe Lewis (60 att, 285 yards, 5 TD) and Lew Nichols III (27 att, 141 yards, TD; 10 rec, 109 yards, TD). QB Daniel Richardson has completed 62.0% of his passes for 596 yards, 4 TD, & 1 INT. The top receiving threats for the Chippewas have been Dallas Dixon (10 rec, 180 yards, TD), Kalil Pimpleton (12 rec, 139 yards, TD; 11 att, 142 yards, 3 TD), and JaCorey Sullivan (6 rec, 86 yards).
Defensively, Central Michigan is allowing their opponents to average 29.7 ppg on 405.7 total yards per game (262.3 passing yds/g; 143.3 rushing yds/g).
The Eastern Michigan Eagles are still searching for their first win of the season as the Eagles fell to 0-3 (0-3 MAC) on the year after being defeated by the Toledo Rockets, 42-28, this past Wednesday. Eastern Michigan could not get anything going on the offensive end against Toledo and could not fight back after falling behind by a 38-7 margin midway through the 3rd quarter. Eastern Michigan was outgained by Toledo by a 489-278 margin and committed three turnovers in the loss. Leading the way for the Eagles was QB Preston Hutchinson who completed 25 of 38 passes for 4 TD & 1 INT.
On the season, Eastern Michigan is averaging 27.3 ppg on 352.3 total yards per game (245.0 passing yds/g; 107.3 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Eastern Michigan has been led by QB Preston Hutchinson who has completed 61.8% of his passes for 735 yards, 7 TD & 3 INT. Hutchinson is also the leading rusher for the Eagles with 98 yards & 4 TD’s on 43 carries. The top receiving threats for Hutchinson and the Eagles have been Tanner Knue (14 rec, 191 yards, TD), Hassan Beydoun (17 rec, 176 yards), Quian Williams (12 rec, 137 yards, TD), and Bryson Cannon (7 rec, 92 yards, 2 TD). Eastern Michigan uses a backfield by committee approach for their rushing attack and has been led by Darius Boone Jr. (9 att, 68 yards) and Samson Evans (14 rec, 63 yards).
Defensively, Eastern Michigan is allowing their opponents to average 36.7 ppg on 485.3 total yards per game (249.7 passing yds/g; 235.7 rushing yds/g).
The Chippewas are 7-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 conference games. The Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a double-digit loss at home and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
Eastern Michigan has gotten off to a slow start to the season, however, they were competitive on the road against both Kent State & Ball State and have a talented QB in Preston Hutchinson should be able to put up some points against a Central Michigan defense that just allowed almost 400 yards of passing offense to Western Michigan. Central Michigan will be able to put up some points in this one, but as I think this one will be come down to wire late, I think the play here is to take Eastern Michigan and the points. Good Luck!
