Central Arkansas faces Louisiana on Saturday, November 21st at Cajun Field for a Week 12 NCAA football matchup.
Central Arkansas is featured in the Southland Conference in FCS competition. Central Arkansas is 5-4 on the year, putting the team in second place in the Southland standings. Central Arkansas has taken on two FBS teams already this season in UAB and Arkansas State -- both games resulting in losses for Central Arkansas. Central Arkansas is coming off a 37-25 win over Eastern Kentucky on November 14th. Central Arkansas is led by quarterback Breylin Smith, who has thrown for 1,861 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions so far this season. Central Arkansas can put up some points, so this will not be a "cakewalk" for Louisiana by any means.
Louisiana is coming off a 38-10 win over South Alabama in Week 11. Louisiana is now 7-1 on the year, winning four straight games since its 30-27 loss to Coastal Carolina on October 14th. Louisiana is ranked #24th in the nation according to the AP Polls, as the Rajun Cajuns have made a name for themselves this season. Louisiana's starting quarterback, Levi Lewis, has thrown for 1,880 yards, 13 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Lewis is a big part of the Louisiana offense in both the passing and rushing game, and he will be important in this game against Central Arkansas. Louisiana has allowed 20 or fewer points in three of its last four games, as the defense has stepped up in a big way recently. Louisiana has to come out firing right from the starting kickoff in this one, as this could be a trap game believe it or not.
Louisiana opens 24.5-points favorites and the total is set at 59.5. I like Central Arkansas in this spot, as I think Central Arkansas has enough game experience this season to keep this game closer than most think it will be. Central Arkansas has what it takes to put 20 points on the board in this game, and that should be enough for a cover on the road. I will take Central Arkansas and the massive amount of points here.
