The Clemson Tigers and Florida State Seminoles face off on Saturday in an ACC college football showdown at Doak Campbell Stadium.
Clemson were cruising right along, before COVID came in and took out Trevor Lawrence, and then they lost to Notre Dame without him. The offense actually still had success in the last game against Notre Dame, but the defense was a big issue giving up 47 points and that led to the loss. There is no doubt that defensive performance had to frustrate Dabo Swinney and there is no doubt they are going to want to make a statement in this game. On offense this season Clemson is averaging 45.4 points per game which is 8th best in football. Lawrence has thrown for 1833 yards, 17 touchdowns, and two interceptions and he should be back to go in this game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Florida State Seminoles who have struggled this season and they come into this game having lost three in a row. In the last game against NC State, the offense couldn’t get enough going scoring only 22 points while the defense gave up 38 points. On offense this season Florida State is averaging 22 points while their defense is giving up 36.1 points per game. One of the big questions for Florida Tate is who will be under center in this game. Jordan Travis sat out the last game with an undisclosed injury and it’s unclear if he will be able to go. If Travis can’t go, Florida State is going to be in even more trouble.
Clemson is 2-7 against the spread in their last nine games overall. Florida State is 1-8 against the spread in their last nine games overall. The under is 7-3 in Florida State’s last 10 home games. Clemson is 11-4 against the spread in the last 15 meetings between Clemson and Florida State.
This is going to be a game where Florida State really struggles to score and that will be the difference in this game. Look for Clemson to run up the score, the Seminoles will have no chance to keep up, and Clemson will win and cover the spread.
