The Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs and Charlotte 49ers face off in a college football showdown at Jerry Richardson Stadium.
The Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs will be playing their first game of the season when they take on Charlotte and this their only scheduled game this fall. Many around Gardner-Webb are extra excited for this game because it will be the first game in charge for Tre Lamb who took of the coaching job. Lamb was previously an assistant coach at Tennessee Tech and Mercer before taking the job. Gardner-Webb struggled in 2019 but they do have a couple of star players including All=-American receiver Izaiah Gathings who should be a playmaker in this game. On defense, they are led by Darien Reynolds and Cade Hamilton who are going to need to play well or they are going to be in major trouble in this game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Charlotte 49ers who come into this game with a 2-3 record but they are coming off a bye. Charlotte had won two games in a row before being completely outmatched in their last game against the Duke Blue Devils. When Charlotte has found success it’s been their offense that has been good, and when their offense has struggled, it’s usually been the offense that has let them down. On the season Charlotte is averaging 28.6 points per game and they are led by quarterback Chris Reynolds who has thrown for 1,110 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Check back later for updated trends on this game.
The 49ers are the better team and their offense is going to be a big problem for Gardner-Webb. In this game, look for Charlotte to run up the score, and Gardner-Webb is going to have no answer. Back the Charlotte 49ers to win this game and cover the spread.
