The Pitt Panthers and Florida State Seminoles face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Doak Campbell Stadium.
The Pitt Panthers have dealt with injuries and that has really hurt their chances to have a successful season. After winning the first three games of the season, Pittsburgh has lost four straight games and the offense has been an issue including in their last game against Notre Dame where they scored only three points total. One of the big questions for Pittsburgh is who will be under center. Quarterback Kenny Pickett is dealing with an ankle injury and is questionable for this game. If Pickett can’t go it’s going to be Joey Yellen who will get the start and he has thrown for 397 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. On defense, Pittsburgh is giving up 23.9 points per game, and their defense against the rush has been lights out.
On the other side of this matchup is the Florida State Seminoles who have been super inconsistent and the last two games have been a perfect example of their season. Two games ago against UNC they won 31-28, but in the last game against Louisville, they went back to their struggling way losing 48-16. On the season Florida State is giving up 35 points per game and they are letting up almost 500 yards per game. At quarterback it will be Jordan Travis and on the season he has thrown for 758 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions. In this game if they want to win the defense is going to need to be a lot better or they will be in trouble.
The under is 15-5 in Pitt’s last 20 road games. Florida State is 8-1 against the spread in their last nine games against teams with a losing record. The over is 8-2-1 in Florida State’s last 11 games played in November. Florida State is 2-7 against the spread in their last nine games overall.
Pitt’s offense hasn’t been great but anyone can score against Florida State and that will continue in this game. Ptt might not come away with a win, but there is going to be enough points scored by both teams to push this one over the total.
