The Utah State Aggies and Nevada Wolf Pack face off on Thursday night in college football action at Mackay Stadium.
The Utah State Aggies are really missing not having Jordan Love on this year's squad and the first two games have been disasters. Utah State has been blown out in each of the first two games of the season and they have only scored 20 points total this year. The defense has also given 80 points total during the two games. This is an Aggies offense that is only averaging 209 yards per game and only 102 yards per game through the air. Quarterback Jason Shelley has thrown for 180 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Utah State is going to have their hands full in this game, but if they want any chance to come away with a victory, the offense is going to need to find a way to get going.
On the other side of this matchup is the Nevada Wolf Pack who have looked good in their first two games of the season winning each of the games. This is an offense that has been elite this season putting up 37 points in each of the first two games of the season. Quarterback Carson Strong has found a lot of success for the team putting up 670 yards, six touchdowns, and zero interceptions. One area the offense could improve for Nevada would be with their rushing game. Nevada is averaging only 111.5 yards per game on the ground. On defense, Nevada is giving up 25.5 yards per game.
The over is 38-15 in Utah State’s last 53 games on fieldturf. Utah State is 9-19 against the spread in their last 28 games against teams with a winning record. The under is 13-6 in Nevada’s last 19 conference games. The home team is 9-2 against the spread in the last 11 meetings between Utah State and Nevada.
Utah State is a terrible team, and Nevada is going to have no issue running up the score in this game. Utah State doesn’t have the offense to keep this game close, and that will lead to the Wolf Pack winning this game and covering the spread.
