The Virginia Tech Hokies and Louisville Cardinals face off on Saturday in an ACC college football showdown at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium
The Virginia Tech Hokies have been one of the harder teams to figure out this season and the biggest reason has been their inconsistency. Two weeks ago, Virginia Tech had no issue dominating the Boston College Eagles, but in the last game against Wake Forest, the offense couldn’t get much going only scoring 16 points and that led to the loss. On the season the Hokies defense is giving up 29.6 points per game while allowing 441 yards per game. Under center for Virginia Tech is Hendon Hooker who has thrown for 470 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions.
On the other side of this matchup is the Louisville Cardinals who won their first game of the season and their last but in between that they lost four games in a row. There was a lot of buzz around this Louisville offense, and in the last game against Florida State they were impressive putting up 48 points while the defense only gave up 16. Quarterback Malik Cunningham has thrown for 1,395 yards, 12 touchdowns, and five interceptions. On the season Louisville is averaging 28.5 points but with as bad as their defense is they need the offense to be better. At home this season Louisville's offense is averaging 39 points per game, and it's going to be important that the offense is good again.
Virginia Tech is 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games played in October. The over is 9-2 in Louisville’s last 11 games overall. The over is 10-3 in Louisville’s last 13 games in October. The over is 6-2 in Louisville’s last eight conference games.
Louisville is a strong offensive team and their defense isn’t good. Look for Louisville to run up the score, Virginia Tech to run up the score, and for this game to go well over the posted total. In terms of the side it’s a lean-to Louisville but if you are going to bet that, take the value and bet Louisville as plus money underdogs.
