The UAB Blazers and LA Tech Bulldogs face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Joe Aillet Stadium.
The UAB Blazers have had success this season but they coming off a loss against the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. In the last game they were competitive the entire game, but couldn’t make the playoffs in the 4th quarter and that led to the loss. On the season UAB is averaging 29.8 points per game while the defense is giving up 21.2 points per game. On offense, UAB uses a very balanced attack and averages 184.8 yards per game on the ground. Under center for UAB is Bryson Lucero who has thrown for 903 yards, seven touchdowns, and six interceptions. In the last game he threw two interceptions and taking care of the ball is going to be key in this one.
On the other side of this matchup is the LA Tech Bulldogs who currently sit with a 3-3 record overall and coming into this game they have lost two games in a row. In the last game against UTSA, Louisiana Tech was competitive but they lost by a point. Each of the last two games the defense has been an issue and on the season they are giving up 32 points per game. On offense the biggest issue for the Bulldogs is they don’t have a balanced offense and they are averaging less than 100 yards per game on the ground. Luke Anthony has been good through the air throwing for 1,067 yards, 12 touchdowns, and three interceptions.
UAB is 9-2 against the spread in their last 11 games in October. The under is 10-3-1 in UAB’s last 14 games played in October. The over is 17-5 in LA Tech’s last 22 games as a home underdog. The over is 6-2 in LA Tech’s last eight home games.
LA Tech hasn’t looked good this season and it’s not going to get any better in this one. Look for UAB’s defense to be strong, LA Tech won’t have an answer, and UAB is going to win this game and cover the spread.
