The Indiana Hoosiers and Rutgers Scarlet Knights face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at High Point Solutions Stadium.
The Indiana Hoosiers had to have a couple of breaks go their way, but they were able to beat Penn State 36-35. The defense still has some issues that need to be figured out, but they were able to create turnovers. An interception or two would go a long way in helping them win this game. On offense, they had issues running the ball, and that will need to be better. At quarterback, Indiana is led by Michael Penix Jr who threw for 170 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. In this game Indiana needs to establish the run early and try to control the time of possession.
On the other side of this matchup is the Rutgers Scarlet Knights who hope to turn their program with Greg Schiano now back in charge. In the first game of the season as 9.5 point underdogs against Michigan State, the offense was elite putting up 38 points, and that was enough to come away with a victory. Even with the offensive success, Rutgers still gave up 27 points and the defensive performance has to be concerning going forward. Even though Rutgers scored 38 points, they only had 276 total yards. At quarterback, Rutgers is led by Noah Vedral who threw for 169 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Rutgers got out to a fast start last Saturday and in this game it's going to be important that they get out to a fast start.
The over is 8-1 in Indiana’s last nine games in October. Indiana is 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 games overall. Rutgers is 3-7 against the spread in their last ten conference games. The under is 11-5 in Rutgers last 16 conference games.
This line is a bit odd to me which concerns me because it might be one of those situations where someone knows something. Even with the concerns, there is no way Rutgers should be this big of an underdog. Back Rutgers to cover this spread.
