The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and Georgia State Panthers face off on Saturday at Center Parc Credit Union Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers still aren’t getting the respect they deserve but they do have a perfect 5-0 record. In Coastal Carolina’s last game against Georgia Southern they turned it on late and were able to win by 28-14. The big question heading into this game is will they have their quarterback back or will Fred Payton get another start. Grayson McCall is dealing with an undisclosed injury and it’s unclear if he will be able to go. McCall has thrown for 930 yards, 11 touchdowns, and one interception. On defense Coastal Carolina is giving up 21.6 points per game and only 345 yards per game. On offense the Chanticleers are averaging 187 yards per game on the ground.
On the other side of this matchup is Georgia State who have won two of their last three games including their last game against Troy, a game they were underdogs in. The defense has been an issue all season for this squad, but in the last game they scored 36 which was enough to come away with the victory. On the season Georgia State is averaging 42 points per game while the defense is giving up 39 points per game. Quarterback Cornelious Brown IV has had a big year under center for Georgia State putting up 917 yards, nine touchdowns, and four interceptions. In this game the defense will probably give up points so it’s going to be important the offense finds a way to have success.
The over is 18-7 in Coastal Carolina’s last 25 road games. Georgia State is 6-2-1 against the spread in their last nine home games. Georgia State is 4-9-2 against the spread in their last 15 games against teams with a winning record. .
Even if Coastal Carolina has to start their backup quarterback, it’s not going to matter, they are going to get the job done in this game. The Chanticleers defense is going to step up in a big way, and Coastal Carolina will win the game and cover the spread.
