The Louisville Cardinals and Notre Dame Fighting Irish face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Notre Dame Stadium.
There was hope this Louisville Cardinals team would be better this season but so far that hasn’t been the case, although a win here would really help. Louisville comes into this game with only one win and that was in the first game of the season against Western Kentucky. The last three games, the offense hasn’t been good enough, and the defense has really been a problem and that has led to the struggles. In the last game against Georgia Tech, the Cardinals defense gave up 46 points. The good news for Louisville is they do have a dynamic quarterback in Malik Cunningham who has thrown for 986 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions. The one thing that Louisville can’t have happen is they fall behind by more than a touchdown early.
On the other side of this matchup is Notre Dame who have had three wins this season, but only covered one of those spreads. In the last game against Florida State, Notre Dame got out to a bit of a slow start before turning it on and coming away with a 42-26 victory. NOtre Dame is currently averaging 40.3 points per game while the defense is giving up 13 points per game. The Fighting Irish have Ian Book under center who is good, but the real strength of the offense is on the ground and so far they are averaging 270 yards per game. Quarterback Ian Book has thrown for 607 yard, three touchdowns and one interception.
The over is 8-1 in Louisville’s last nine games. The over is 9-2 in Louisville's last 11 games played in October. Louisville is 3-10-1 against the spread in their last 14 road games. Notre Dame is 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games overall. Notre Dame is 17-8 against the spread in their last 25 games played in October.
Louisville’s defense has been a big-time problem and that is going to continue in this game. I also think Louisville is going to find enough offensive success to help push this game over the total. Back the over to cash.
