Georgia State faces Charlotte on Saturday, September 26th at Jerry Richardson Stadium for week four NCAA football action.
Georgia State is coming off a tough loss in week three. Georgia State lost to the #19 ranked Louisiana Lafayette by the final score of 34-31 in overtime. It was Georgia State's first game of the season, but you would not have noticed, as Georgia State came out firing and took an early 14-0 lead in that game. Only one overtime was necessary in the game, as after a Georgia State field goal, Elijah Mitchell of Louisiana earned a 12-yard game-winning rushing touchdown to win the game for Louisiana. Georgia State may have lost a heartbreaker, but the team was 17-point underdogs in the game, so to keep it that close has to be a moral victory for Georgia State. Georgia State is now 0-1 and ready for its first road game of the season at Charlotte.
Charlotte's week three game against #12 ranked North Carolina was postponed, so the team still sits at 0-1 on the season. Charlotte's loss this season came against a very tough Appalachian State team by the final score of 35-20 on the road. Charlotte had its moments in that game, and losing by only 15 points to a ranked team on the road is not too shabby. Obviously, Charlotte has much bigger aspirations than losing semi-close games, and that includes winning its home opener in this one. Charlotte's offense will have to be a lot more consistent in this game against Georgia State, as 286 total yards -- the amount Charlotte got against App State -- will not be enough to take down this high-flying Georgia State squad.
Georgia State is a member of the Sun Belt conference, while Charlotte is featured in Conference-USA.
I like Georgia State to win this game on the road, as I think the team's offense is too much for Charlotte to handle. I expect a quick start for Georgia State, while it might take a while for Charlotte to get going in this one. I will take Georgia State to win this game by ten points on the road, earning its first win of the season against a formidable opponent.
