The Campbell Fighting Camels and Coastal Carolina Chanticleers face off on Friday in their second college football game of the season.
The expectations for the Campbell Fighting Camels aren’t that high for this season, but they were quite competitive in the first game. In the first game of this season against the Georgia Southern Eagles they jumped out to a 13-3 lead and everything looked good. In the second half they couldn’t keep the strong play and 14 points in the 4th quarter given up led them to a one point loss. The Fighting Camels got good quarterback play in the first game by Hajj-Malik Williams who put up 237 yards and two touchdowns. Williams also added another 73 yards on the ground and another touchdown. Georgia Southern is a run-first team, and in the first game they were worn down as the game went on and that led to the loss.
On the other side of this matchup is the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers who had quite the impressive win in the first game beating the Kansas Jayhawks 38-23. Coastal Carolina jumped out to a fast start in that game, and they had no issue holding on late.Kansas did end up scoring points, but it was mostly garbage time. The defense stopped the run first and that led to the victory. Quarterback Grayson McCall didn’t have to be leaned on heavily but he did throw for 133 yards and three touchdowns. Torrance Marble also found success on the ground rushing 21 times for 75 yards but he didn’t find the end zone.
Check back later for trends.
Campbell faded late in the last game, and in this one they aren’t going to jump out to such a strong start. Look for Coastal Carolina’s offense to have no issue running up the score again and they will have no issue winning this game and covering the spread.
