The Miami Hurricanes are on the road for an ACC clash with the Virginia Cavaliers on October 31, 2020. Miami finished the 2019 campaign with an overall record of (6-7), while Virginia went (9-5). Virginia fell to Miami during the 2019 meeting, 17-9. Let’s take a closer look at each program. Get College Football predictions at Pick Dawgz.
Miami will be looking for more consistently out of their quarterbacks during 2020. The Hurricanes used 3 quarterbacks last season, with Jarren Williams being involved the most. Williams was just a freshman last season and passed for over 2,100 yards, while throwing 19 touchdowns. Williams did not see any playing time during the matchup last season. The coaching staff will be hoping for a solid game from running back Cam’Ron Harris. Harris rushed for almost 600 yards a year ago. The program will have concerns from the receiving core, as two of the better receivers entered into the NFL draft. For more on Miami, check out the team preview.
Virginia will look different on offense during the 2020 season, as their staple under center in recent seasons moved onto the NFL. Bryce Perkins threw for more than 3,500 yards, while tossing 22 touchdowns. The offense will have running back Wayne Taulapapa back for a junior year. Virginia will have its ups and downs, as the program not only lost their starting quarterback from a year ago, but also lost their top wideout. The defense should still be able to find success consistently. For more on Virginia, check out the team preview.
Overview: Miami has opened as 7 point favorites on the road against Virginia. Both teams have questions that surround their offense, as the college football season grows closer by the day. Virginia will be looking to a new quarterback for the 2020 season, while Miami will be looking for new targets to step up, as Williams will need some reliable receivers in the passing game. Both offenses could have trouble scoring at times throughout this season and this game could very well be a low scoring game. However, I'm going to side with the home team to cover this spread, as this game should be close throughout the whole game.
