The Auburn Tigers play host to the Kentucky Wildcats in their first home conference game of the 2020 campaign. Auburn finished the 2019 season with a record of (9-4), while Kentucky went (8-5). The last meeting between the two schools came during the 2015 season, Auburn won 30-27. Let's take a look at both teams for this matchup. Get College Football picks all season long at Pick Dawgz.
Kentucky who ran the program last season as a run heavy offense, will look to be more balanced during the 2020 season. Kentucky will need to overcome the loss of Lynn Bowden Jr. Bowden was the majority of their offense from last season. Auburn ranked 28th in total defense last season. If Kentucky wants to be a run first team again, the Wildcats will need to be perfect in this one, as Auburn had a top 25 rush defense a season ago. For more on Kentucky, check out the team preview.
Auburn will be looking to start SEC play 2-0 on the season. Auburn should have any issue getting their offense back to elite level, as the Tigers return their starting quarterback, running back, and both starting wideouts. Bo Nix is entering his sophomore season and should only improve from the 2019 season. Auburn returns some of the most talent in the SEC on offense. However, Kentucky had a top 15 defense in team passing efficiency defense a year ago. Look for Auburn to keep Kentucky off balanced. For more on Auburn, check out the team preview.
Overview: Auburn has opened up as a 14.5 favorite at home against Kentucky. The Tigers won just 5 games last season by more than that point spread. Kentucky had a rather solid season, as there were just three games where Kentucky lost by more than 14.5 points. The one area that is obvious is Auburn's offense should be way ahead of the talent and experience that will be on Kentucky’s offense. I look for Auburn to get it done at home, as it is tough for teams to play competitive to Auburn at home. I’m taking Auburn to cover this spread and win by 17 points.
