Florida State Seminoles (0-0) vs. Boise State Broncos (0-0)
College Football: Saturday, September, 19, 2020 in Boise, ID
The Line: Boise State -1.0 -- Over/Under:
The Boise State Broncos play host to the Florida State Seminoles on September 19, 2020. Boise State will be looking to add a power 5 non-conference win to their resume. Boise State finished the 2019 season with an overall record of (12-2), while Florida State went (6-7). Let’s take a look at some players to watch in this matchup. Get College Football picks all season long at Pick Dawgz.
Florida State will be in what is sort of an unchartered territory, as Florida State doesn’t usually travel for a non-conference game outside of a power 5 school. However, Boise State is better than a lot of power 5 schools. Florida State will need solid play out of quarterback James Blackman. Blackman passed for 2,339 yards, while throwing 17 touchdowns. He does need to cut down on the interceptions, as he threw 11 picks. The Seminoles will look different in the backfilled, as 1,000 yard rusher Cam Akers was drafted. The offense will need wideout Tamorrion Terry to mirror his campaign from a year ago. The wideout had nearly 1,200 yards receiving and 9 scores. For more on Florida State, check out the team preview.
Boise State will be looking to defend their blue turf, but will need quarterback Hank Bachmeier to be on his game. Bachmeier takes over for Jaylon Henderson who graduated this past season. Bachmeier will need to be on point, as the program just recently added a quarterback to the roster, via a transfer from USC. The transfer is Jack Sears, he is immediately eligible, as he is agrad transfer. Chase Cord could also be in the mix. Bachmeier did pass for almost 1,900 yards in parts of the 2019 campaign. Boise State does return their star running back from last season, as George holani is back. Holani collected over 1,000 yards rushing. The defense should be nearly the same from a year ago. Overview: Florida State quarterback James Blackman has been inconsistent throughout his Seminoles career, but that doesn’t mean he can’t catch his stride this season. Boise State will be in the process of getting their quarterback situation figured out. So the quarterback situation is a question mark for both programs in this matchup. However, Boise State has the edge in the backfield, as well as having better depth on their defense. Florida State should be improved this season, but Boise State is the better team here. I’ll put stock in Boise State to cash this small spread at home.
