The UAB Blazers and the Florida Atlantic Owls meet in college football action from FAU Stadium on Saturday.
UAB enters this one at 9-3 overall. Since their consecutive losses to Tennessee and Southern Miss, the Blazers have taken out UTEP, LA Tech and North Texas in succession.
In the win over the Green, UAB’s Dylan Hopkins passed for 99 yards, and Spencer Brown rushed for 111 and a TD. Kendall Parham added 60 yards off two receptions to lead the team there.
Over on the Florida Atlantic side, they’re 9-3 as well. since falling to Marshall back in October, the Owls have beaten Old Dominion, Western KY, FIU, UTSA and Southern Miss.
In the win over the Eagles, FAU’s Chris Robison managed 156 yards and three scores. BJ Emmons led the rush on 71 yards and a TD, and Harrison Bryant posted three receiving scores and 75 yards.
The Blazers are 20-6-1 ATS in their last 27 conference games and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 after an ATS win. UAB is 27-13-1 ATS in their last 41 overall and 2-5 ATS in their last seven on grass.
Meanwhile, the Owls are 5-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last five conference games. FAU is 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up win.
During their current three-game win streak, the Blazers have put up one relative blowout (37-10 versus UTEP), and since have posted a couple close games (20-14 against LA Tech and 26-21 against North Texas). Scoring-wise, UAB has done pretty well in their victories this season, often topping the 30-point threshold.
That said, Florida Atlantic is on a pretty nice run right now. The Owls have managed at least 34 in each of their last five games and really haven’t had a whole lot of trouble. I like FAU to keep rolling here and manage a cover.
