The California Golden Bears and the UCLA Bruins meet in college football action from the Rose Bowl on Saturday.
Cal sits at 6-5 on the year. The Golden Bears are 2-1 in their last three games, falling to USC 41-17 but taking out Washington State 33-20 and Stanford 24-20 otherwise.
In the win over the Cardinal, California QB Chase Garbers put up 285 yards and a TD, and also led the rush with 72 yards and a score. Nikko Remigio added 157 yards and a TD off nine receptions.
Over on the UCLA side, they’re 4-7 so far. The Bruins had a three-game win streak going versus Stanford, Arizona State and Colorado but they’ve lost their last two to Utah and USC.
In the loss to USC, UCLA’s Dorian Thompson-Robinson posted 367 yards, three TDs and a pick, while also leading the rush with 64 yards and another TD. Devin Asiasi caught five balls for 141 yards and a score as well.
The Bears are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 in November and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games. California is 6-2 ATS in their last eight on grass and 7-3 versus a team with a losing record.
Meanwhile, the Bruins are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 home games and the over is 4-1-1 in their last six overall. The over is 4-1-1 in UCLA’s last six conference games and 3-1-1 in their last five in November.
The tough part of Cal’s schedule didn’t work out great, as they ended up losing five games in a six-game stretch. That said, three of those teams were ranked (Oregon, Utah, USC) and they were within a touchdown in the other two games. Not bad, all things considered.
UCLA could cause some trouble here, as the Bruins have the ability to step on the gas pedal on offense pretty well. They hung 42 on Arizona State, 31 on Colorado and even got USC for 35 points. I like the Bruins to come alive here and bang out a cover in what should be a fun game.
