The Utah State Aggies and New Mexico Lobos meet Saturday in week 14 college football action at Dreamstyle Stadium.
The Utah State Aggies look for a victory after splitting their last eight games. The Utah State Aggies have lost three of their last five road games. Jordan Love is completing 61.4 percent of his passes for 2,913 yards, 14 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Love has one or less touchdown passes in five of his last seven games. Siaosi Mariner and Deven Thompkins have combined for 1,304 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns while Jordan Nathan has 43 receptions. The Utah State Aggies ground game is averaging 144.9 yards per contest, and Gerold Bright leads the way with 714 yards and seven touchdowns. Defensively, Utah State is allowing 29.4 points and 435.8 yards per game. David Woodward leads the Utah State Aggies with 93 tackles, Nick Heninger has three sacks and Shaq Bond has three interceptions.
The New Mexico Lobos could use a feel good victory to snap an eight-game losing streak. The New Mexico Lobos have lost three straight home games. Tevaka Tuioti is completing 52.3 percent of his passes for 1,460 yards, seven touchdowns and six interceptions. Sheriron Jones and Tuioti have combined for nine touchdowns and 13 interceptions this season. Jordan Kress and Marcus Williams have combined for 922 receiving yards and five touchdowns while Anselem Umeh has 20 receptions. The New Mexico Lobos ground game is averaging 198.8 yards per contest, and Ahmari Davis leads the way with 832 yards and seven touchdowns. Defensively, New Mexico is allowing 37.1 points and 496.4 yards per game. Alex Hart leads the New Mexico Lobos with 75 tackles, Jacobi Hearn has six sacks and Jerrick Reed II has one interception.
The Aggies are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up loss and 6-14 ATS in their last 20 games in November. The Lobos are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 conference games, 3-10 ATS in their last 13 home games and 8-20 ATS in their last 28 games overall. The under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings. The under is 6-2 in Lobos last 8 games overall. The under is 6-2 in Aggies last 8 road games.
The Utah State Aggies are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games as a double-digit favorite. The New Mexico Lobos are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games as a double-digit underdog. The Utah State Aggies have had their issues with consistency this season and that defense can get gashed, as we saw last week. The New Mexico Lobos are arguably the worst defense in college football and simply don't cover numbers. I'd look toward the over in this game once the line is released, but if forced to pick a side, I'd lean toward Utah State and the chalk. I can't back teams that don't play a lick of defense ever.
