The Line: Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks -6.5 -- Over/Under: 63.5
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks meet in week 13 college football action from Malone Stadium on Saturday.
Coastal Carolina sits at 4-6 so far. The Chanticleers are just 1-5 in their last six with a win over Troy beside losses to App State, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Louisiana and Arkansas State.
In the loss to the Red Wolves, Coastal QB Fred Payton had 149 yards with one TD and one INT, and Torrance Marable had 142 yards with two TDs rushing. Ky’Jon Tyler had 74 yards on four receptions there as well.
Over on the Warhawks’ side, they’re 4-6 this year as well. Louisiana-Monroe is 1-3 over their last four games, with a win over Georgia State alongside losses to App State, Arkansas State and Georgia Southern.
In the loss to the Eagles, Louisiana-Monroe QB Caleb Evans put up 285 yards with two TDs and two INTs, and Perry Carter caught two balls for 95 yards. Josh Johnson rushed for 43 yards on 12 carries also.
The Chanticleers are 5-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss. Coastal is 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 conference games.
Meanwhile, the Warhawks are 11-28-1 ATS in their last 40 home games and 8-21 ATS in their last 29 on grass. Louisiana-Monroe is 2-6 ATS in their last eight conference games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 overall.
Seems Coastal Carolina can’t catch a break lately. During this 1-5 stretch, they’ve lost by 10 or fewer points three times, and three or fewer points twice. On the whole, the Chanticleers are still scoring pretty well but they’re getting lit up on the other side.
Louisiana-Monroe is in that same boat; they can score well and they also give up 30+ points routinely these days. I’m not thrilled with this matchup, but I’m hesitantly going to take Louisiana-Monroe on the cover.
