The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and the South Alabama Jaguars will meet up in college football action on Saturday.
Louisiana is sitting at 7-2 so far. The Cajuns have lost to MS State and App State but taken out Liberty, TX Southern, Ohio, GA Southern, AR State, Texas State and Coastal Carolina.
In the win over the Chanticleers, Louisiana QB Levi Lewis put up 296 yards and three scores, while Chris Smith had 99 yards and a TD on eight carries. Ja’Marcus Bradley led the receivers with seven grabs for 71 yards and a TD.
Over on the South Alabama side, they’re 1-8 so far. The Jaguars have a win over Jackson State but otherwise they’ve fallen to Nebraska, Memphis, UAB, LA-Monroe, GA Southern, Troy, App State and Texas State.
In the Texas State loss, South Alabama QB Desmond Trotter posted 164 yards and two scores, and Tar Minter had 87 rush yards with a TD. Kawaan Baker had 34 yards on four grabs there as well.
The Cajuns are 5-0 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 6-0 ATS in their last six road games. Louisiana is 6-1 ATS in the last seven on turf and 6-1 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Jags are 6-1 ATS in their last seven conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. South Alabama is 8-20 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 8-20 ATS in their last 28 in November.
Louisiana is looking good following that App State loss. In the three games since they’ve put up at least 31 points in each game and held their opponents to 20 points or less in each as well.
As for South Alabama, they’ve hit the skids over their last seven games, posting 17 or fewer in six of them. Realistically I don’t think there’s any way the Jaguars get close here so I’m going Cajuns.
