The LSU Tigers and the Ole Miss Rebels meet in a week 12 SEC conference college football tilt from Vaught-Hamingway Stadium on Saturday night.
The LSU Tigers will look to remain unbeaten after improving to 9-0 on the year with a 46-41 win over Alabama last time out. Joe Burrow has thrown for 3,198 yards, 33 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on 78.9% passing while Clyde Edwards-Helaire leads the Tigers in rushing with 786 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns this year. Justin Jefferson leads the Tigers with 62 catches for 898 yards and 9 touchdowns while Ja’Marr Chase has 49 grabs for 889 yards and 10 TDs. Terrace Marshall Jr. has 378 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns while Thaddeus Moss and the aforementioned Edwards-Helaire each have 200+ receiving yards this season. Defensively, Jacob Phillips leads the Tigers with 71 total tackles including a team-high 33 solo tackles while JaCoby Stevens has 56 total tackles this season. As a team, LSU is averaging 538.6 yards of total offense and 46.7 points per game while allowing 341.4 yards of total defense and 22.3 points per game against this season.
The Ole Miss Rebels will look to build on a 41-3 win over New Mexico State in their last outing. Matt Corral has thrown for 1,149 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions while John Rhys Plumlee has thrown for 666 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 picks and leads the Rebels in rushing with 777 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns. Scottie Phillips has 542 rushing yards while Jerrion Ealy has 499 rushing yards and Snoop Conner has 436 rushing yards with Phillips, Ealy and Conner each having 5 rushing TDs this season. Elijah Moore leads Ole Miss with 55 catches for 672 yards while the Rebels boast another 7 100+ yard receivers this season. Defensively, Lakia Henry leads the Rebels with 74 total tackles while Sam Williams and Benito Jones each have 4.5 sacks this season. As a team, Ole Miss is averaging 434.6 yards of total offense and 26.2 points per game while allowing 397.4 yards of total defense and 23.9 points per game against this season.
LSU is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall while the under is 14-5-1 in their last 20 games in November. Ole Miss is 7-16 ATS in their last 23 home games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a win while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 conference games. LSU is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
We’ve seen before that Ole Miss is capable of hanging with teams like Alabama as the Rebels scored 31 in that game. However, the Rebels also gave up 59 and narrowly snuck in the back door to cover that game. LSU may be in for a letdown after such a big win over Alabama that almost ensures their spot in the playoffs, but I think that LSU knows that they can’t slip up, and the situation at hand isn’t lost on the Tigers. I think LSU will want to get this one over with as quickly as possible by racking up a ton of points early, so I’ll lay the points with LSU in this one.
