The Syracuse Orange and the Duke Blue Devils will match up on the college football field Saturday.
Syracuse sits at 3-6 so far. The Orange have beaten Liberty, Western Michigan and Holy Cross but fallen to Maryland, Clemson, NC State, Pitt, Florida State and Boston College this year.
In the loss to Boston College, Syracuse QB Tommy Devito logged 289 yards with three scores, and led the rush with 61 yards as well. Trishton Jackson had 148 yards and two scores off eight grabs there as well.
Over on the Duke side, they’re 4-5 so far. The Devils have wins over NC A&T, Middle Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech but have lost to Alabama, Pitt, Virginia, UNC and Notre Dame.
In the loss to the Irish, Duke QB Quentin Harris had 102 yards, one TD and one pick and Deon Jackson had 52 rush yards. Aaron Young added 30 receiving yards on two catches.
The Orange are 1-4-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 after a straight-up loss. Syracuse is 0-5 ATS in their last five conference games and 0-4 ATS in their last four on grass.
Meanwhile, the Devils are 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games. Duke is 1-4 ATS in the last five overall and 1-5-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record.
Syracuse is on a four-game losing skid, and they’ve only eclipsed 20 points once in that time. They’ve also allowed at least 27 points in each of their last three games.
As for Duke, they’re in something of the same boat. The Blue Devils have a max of 17 points in each of their last three games, which have all been losses. Duke has also been pretty permissive on the other side scoring as well. All things considered there’s not much here but I like Syracuse to cover.
