The Iowa State Cyclones and the Oklahoma Sooners will match up on the college football circuit Saturday.
Iowa State sits at 5-3 so far. The Cyclones have beaten Northern Iowa, LA-Monroe, TCU, West Virginia and Texas Tech but lost to Iowa, Baylor and Oklahoma State.
In the loss to OSU, Iowa State QB Brock Purdy posted 382 yards, one TD and three picks. Breece Hall posted 76 yards rushing with two scores, and Deshaunte Jones led the receivers with 91 yards from eight grabs.
Over on the Oklahoma side, they’re 7-1 so far. The Sooners opened with wins over Houston, South Dakota, UCLA, Texas Tech, Kansas, Texas and West Virginia but lost their last game to Kansas State 48-41.
In the Kansas State loss, Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts led the charge with 395 pass yards with a TD, alongside 96 rush yards and three scores. CeeDee Lamb added 135 yards and a TD on five catches.
The Cyclones are 15-5-2 ATS in their last 22 conference games and 19-7-1 ATS in the last 27 after a straight-up loss. Iowa State is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 on grass and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five road games.
The Sooners are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five on grass. Oklahoma is 5-2 ATS in the last seven after a bye and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four in November.
Iowa State fought pretty hard in the OK State loss, but couldn’t overcome myriad offensive mistakes in a disappointing 34-27 loss. Still, it’s worth noting that the Cyclones have lost by a score or less in each of their three losses—two being against ranked teams.
That said, Oklahoma has been burying teams offensively this season, and if I can get anything less than a couple of scores I’m taking the Sooners. (However, if the line gets past two scores or so, I’m flipping.)
