The Vanderbilt Commodores and the Florida Gators meet in a week 11 SEC college football clash from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday.
The Vanderbilt Commodores will be looking for a win to help their 2-6 start to the year after a 24-7 loss to South Carolina in their last outing. Riley Neal has thrown for 1,193 yards, 6 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on 58.6% passing while Ke’Shawn Vaughn leads Vandy on the ground with 790 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns. Kalija Lipscomb leads Vanderbilt’s receiving group after logging a team-high 32 grabs for 377 yards and 2 touchdowns. The aforementioned Vaughn and Cam Johnson each have 200+ receiving yards with Johnson adding 3 receiving TDs of his own. Defensively, Dimitri Moore leads Vanderbilt with 62 total tackles, including a team-high 31 solo tackles while Andre Mintze leads the Commodores with 3 sacks this season. As a team, Vanderbilt is averaging 317.8 yards of total offense and 17 points per game while allowing 454 yards of total defense and 32.4 points per game against this season.
The Florida Gators will look to rebound after a disappointing 24-17 loss to Georgia last time out. Kyle Trask has thrown for 1,648 yards, 16 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on 66.8% passing while Lamical Perine has a team-high 491 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns and Dameon Pierce has 259 rushing yards and 3 TDs. Kyle Pitts leads Florida’s receiving group with 469 receiving yards and 39 receptions with 4 touchdowns while Freddie Swain has 430 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns. Van Jefferson has logged 29 catches for 362 yards and 4 TDs of his own while Trevon Grimes has 309 receiving yards and Josh Hammond and Tyrie Cleveland each have 200+ receiving yards this season. Defensively, David Reese II leads Florida with 72 total tackles, including a team-high 31 solo tackles while Jonathan Greenard has a team-high 4 sacks and Shawn Davis has a team-high 3 interceptions this season. As a team, Florida is averaging 404.2 yards of total offense and 30.8 points per game while allowing 331.7 yards of total defense and 16.7 points per game against this season.
Vanderbilt is 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference games while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 road games. Florida is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 conference games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 home games. Vanderbilt is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams at Florida.
The boatload of points with Vandy is kind of tempting, as Florida may not be fully over their frustrating loss to Georgia. However, I’m thinking the opposite as the loss made Florida angry and the Gators have some frustration to take out. Unfortunately, that leaves the Commodores in the line of fire and I don’t think the Gators will be ready to relent here. Vandy has been beaten up for the most part on the road this season and have had issues covering the number all season long. This game has the feels of a 34-6 or 41-6 vibe for the Gators, so I’ll lay the points with Florida in this one.
