The NC State Wolfpack and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons will match up in college football activity on Saturday.
NC State is 4-3 on the season so far. The Wolfpack have beaten East Carolina, WCU, Ball State and Syracuse but lost to West Virginia, Florida State and Boston College this year.
In the loss to BC, NC State QB Devin Leary managed 259 yards with three TDs, and Jordan Houston had 34 yards rushing. Devin Carter was the top receiver there with 140 yards on six catches.
Over on the Wake Forest side, they’re 6-1 this year. The Deacons fell to Louisville but have otherwise beaten Utah State, Rice, UNC, Elon, Boston College and Florida State.
In the win over the Seminoles, Wake Forest QB Sam Hartman posted 308 pass yards, and Cade Carney managed 54 yards and a TD rushing. Sage Surratt had 170 receiving yards on four catches there as well.
NC State is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 conference games and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight on turf. The Wolfpack are 1-4 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 1-5 ATS in their last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Deacons are 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 after a straight-up win. Wake is 0-4 ATS in their last four after a bye week and the under is 5-1 in their last six in November.
NC State has lost three of their last five games, and none of their losses was close. Boston College beat them 45-24, and though the Eagles are a pretty good team, they’re not 45-24 good. The Wolfpack really need some more consistency on both sides of the ball.
As for Wake, they’ve shown some cracks over their last three games, each being decided by three points or fewer, and they coughed up a whopping 62 points to Louisville. This seems like a game Wake should roll through easily, but given their close games lately I’m going to take a chance on NC State covering here.
